01 / What this is

Right-to-left is a design problem, not a translation setting

Running a site through a translation plugin and flipping the text direction produces something that looks wrong to an Arabic reader. The whole layout mirrors: navigation, reading order, icon direction, form alignment, where the eye lands first. Numbers and Latin brand names stay left-to-right inside right-to-left text, which breaks naive implementations.

Typography is the other half. Arabic needs different line heights, different optical sizes, and a typeface that pairs with your Latin face rather than clashing with it. A bilingual brand system defines both, so the two languages feel like one company.

Then there is timing. The Gulf commercial calendar has its own shape — Ramadan and Eid, National Days across the GCC states, a working week that starts on Sunday in several markets. Campaign work planned on a Western calendar lands at the wrong moment.

On language: we build the design system, the RTL implementation and the campaign structure. Arabic copywriting and cultural review should come from a native speaker, and we will say clearly whether that is in scope or whether you need to supply it.

Good signs this service fits

  • You are entering or already selling in GCC markets
  • Your Arabic site is a mirrored version that reads wrong
  • You need one brand working in two scripts
  • Campaigns are planned on a Western calendar
  • You need design that looks local rather than imported

02 / Problems it solves

What GCC Design Solutions usually fixes

Credibility

Arabic that reads as designed, not translated

Proper RTL layout, Arabic typography and reading order, so local audiences see a company that took the market seriously.

Coherence

One brand across two scripts

A bilingual system defining both typefaces, spacing and layout rules, so neither language is the afterthought.

Timing

Campaigns that land in the right week

Creative planned around Ramadan, Eid and National Days rather than a Western retail calendar.

03 / Deliverables

What you actually receive

Deliverables depend on whether you need a bilingual brand system, an RTL implementation of an existing site, or regional campaign creative. Most projects are a combination.

We are explicit about the language boundary: layout, typography and system are ours; Arabic copy and cultural review need a native speaker, either yours or one we help you brief.

Included in a standard engagement

  • Bilingual design system: Arabic and Latin type pairing, spacing, layout rules
  • RTL layout specifications for every component and page template
  • Implemented right-to-left website or application interface
  • Mixed-direction handling for numbers, dates and Latin brand names
  • Regional campaign creative aligned to the GCC calendar
  • Localised imagery direction appropriate to the market
  • Arabic font licensing guidance for web and print
  • A bilingual review checklist for your team

04 / How it works

From first call to finished work

The ASOLZ six-phase process, applied to this service. Each stage ends with something you can review.

Full process

  1. STEP 01

    Market and language scope

Which GCC markets, which languages lead, and who provides Arabic copy and cultural review.

  2. STEP 02

    Bilingual type system

Arabic and Latin typefaces paired and tested at real sizes, with licensing confirmed for your use.

  3. STEP 03

    RTL layout design

Every template designed in both directions, including the components naive mirroring breaks.

  4. STEP 04

    Build or specify

We implement the RTL interface, or hand your developers a specification precise enough to build from.

  5. STEP 05

    Bilingual review

Both language versions checked side by side, with a native-speaker review pass before launch.

05 / Use cases

Bilingual launch site

A site that works equally in Arabic and English from day one, rather than an English site with a language toggle bolted on.

Ramadan and Eid campaign sets built on one visual system across channels.

Corporate

Bilingual brand and documents

Decks, reports and brand assets that hold up in both scripts for regional stakeholders.

Apps

RTL interface design

Application interfaces designed for right-to-left use rather than mirrored at the last minute.

06 / FAQ

Questions about GCC Design Solutions

Do you write Arabic copy?

We design the system and implement the layout. Arabic copywriting and cultural review should come from a native speaker — we will tell you plainly whether that is inside a given proposal or something you supply, because getting it wrong is worse than staying in English.

Can't we just use a translation plugin and flip the layout?

That is what produces sites that read as foreign. Mirroring breaks icon direction, mixed-direction numbers, form alignment and visual hierarchy, and automated translation of marketing copy rarely survives contact with a native reader.

Which GCC markets does this cover?

The design and RTL work applies across Arabic-speaking Gulf markets. Market-specific detail — regulatory requirements, payment preferences, local conventions — needs research per country, which we scope separately rather than assuming.

Do you have an office in the Gulf?

No. We work remotely with GCC clients and we will not claim a local presence we do not have. If your project needs on-the-ground production or a registered local entity, we will say so.

What about Arabic font licensing?

Quality Arabic typefaces are licensed separately and web licensing differs from print. We recommend options at different budget levels and tell you what each licence actually permits.

Which Gulf market are you entering?

Tell us the market and the languages. We will tell you what needs designing versus translating — they are very different jobs.
